President Steve and Carolyn Timbrell welcomed Members and Guests to their President’s weekend, 1st, 2nd and 3rd October 2021.
Steve and Carolyn arranged their weekend based at Tortworth Court Hotel & Spa, a grand Victorian mansion on the southern fringe of the beautiful Cotswolds escarpment near Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. After a most stressful year for all, Steve and Carolyn hoped those able to join them could simply relax among good friends and take the time to enjoy the superb facilities offered at the Hotel. Or to bring walking boots and explore the estate and Victorian arboretum and relax further amongst the trees.
The Itinerary was as follows:
Friday evening – meet at the Hotel’s Atrium Bistro for an evening drink and simple supper from the Bar menu..
Saturday afternoon – For those not wishing to stay at the hotel a visit was planned to WWT Slimbridge wetland wildlife reserve, originally set up by the artist and naturalist Sir Peter Scott. A modern tourist attraction and international centre for research and conservation. Owing to the immensely wet weather a last minute change to the itinerary was essential. All guests were transported to British Aerospace at Bristol where they enjoyed a most informative tour with a chance to board Concorde.
Saturday evening – Dinner at Tortworth Court. The evening commenced with a Champagne Reception at 6.30 p.m.
Sunday morning – Departed at 10.30 a.m. for the short drive to Berkeley Castle. A most remarkable building and the scene of one of the most infamous murders in British history. Following a tour of the C11th building, guests can join us for a light lunch at the Walled Garden Café before departing.
