Many Members travelled to the infamous South Devon fishing town of Brixham to join Martin and Sue Purnell at their President’s weekend. Despite storm Callum having passed through only 24 hours earlier, the weekend continued as planned. Everyone met on the Saturday afternoon aboard the ancient trawler ‘Vigilence’ moored in Brixham harbour, where they enjoyed champagne and canapes while being entertained by a local musician. The party then proceeded to The Berry Head Hotel for an excellent evening Dinner. Sunday morning, despite rain, many guests boarded ‘Vigilence’ again for a sail around Torbay. Other guests chose to visit the nearby National Trust property, Greenway House, the former home of Agatha Christie.
